Membership

blue_sky_smokeWho we are

COMEAP draws its members from a range of specialist fields such as air quality science, atmospheric chemistry, toxicology, physiology, epidemiology, statistics, paediatrics and cardiology. There is also a "lay" member responsible for ensuring COMEAP work is accessible and understandable to the general public.

Currently there are14 full-time committee members (including the chairman), assisted by a secretariat provided by the Health Protection Agency (HPA). The chairman of the Committee on Carcinogenicity (COC) is also a member.

Some members serve on subgroups of the main committee and a small number of ex-members also serve on these sub-groups. From time to time the committee may invite other experts to assist them in their deliberations. These are "co-opted" members.

At all times, individuals are required to declare conflicts of interest and during discussions members declaring an interest may be disqualified at the Chairman's discretion from contributing to the discussion of that item.

On the Members page, you can read the profiles of COMEAP's current chair, committee members and the subgroup chairs. You can also find information on the Secretariat, Members interests and Terms of Reference for COMEAP.
